1212 A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Jake Almond to
1313 the state forestry commission.

1515 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, provides for the creation of
1616 a state forestry commission within the department of agriculture; and
1717 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, further provides that the
1818 governor shall appoint seven (7) members to the commission; and
1919 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Jake Almond to the state forestry
2020 commission as an owner of not more than five hundred (500) acres of forests within the state for
2121 a term that expires on June 30, 2029; and
2222 WHEREAS, a forty-two-year veteran of the forest industry, Jake Almond spent most of
2323 his career working as a consultant for private, non-industrial landowners, serving as the vice
2424 president and part-owner of American Forest Management; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mr. Almond has served as president of the Tennessee Forestry Association
2626 and on numerous other forestry-related boards; and
2727 WHEREAS, he has retired from active forest management and works as a realtor for the
2828 American Forest Management real estate division; and
2929 WHEREAS, Mr. Almond earned his degree in forestry from North Carolina State
3030 University; and
3131 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, provides that each member
3232 appointed by the governor to the state forestry commission shall be confirmed by the general
3333 assembly; now, therefore,
