| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, provides for the creation of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | a state forestry commission within the department of agriculture; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, further provides that the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | governor shall appoint seven (7) members to the commission; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Jake Almond to the state forestry |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | commission as an owner of not more than five hundred (500) acres of forests within the state for |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a term that expires on June 30, 2029; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, a forty-two-year veteran of the forest industry, Jake Almond spent most of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his career working as a consultant for private, non-industrial landowners, serving as the vice |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | president and part-owner of American Forest Management; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Almond has served as president of the Tennessee Forestry Association |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and on numerous other forestry-related boards; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, he has retired from active forest management and works as a realtor for the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | American Forest Management real estate division; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Almond earned his degree in forestry from North Carolina State |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | University; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 11-4-201, provides that each member |

| 32 | 32 | | appointed by the governor to the state forestry commission shall be confirmed by the general |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | assembly; now, therefore, |
