12	12	A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of John McCarty to
13	13	the fish and wildlife commission.

15	15	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201, provides for the creation of
16	16	the fish and wildlife commission; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201(a), further provides that the
18	18	governor shall appoint nine (9) members to the commission; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed John McCarty to serve on the fish and
20	20	wildlife commission as the representative for the 9
21	21	th
22	22	district pursuant to Tennessee Code
23	23	Annotated, Section 70-1-204; subject to confirmation, Mr. McCarty will serve a term that expires
24	24	on February 28, 2031; and
25	25	WHEREAS, an Eagle Scout, John McCarty grew up hunting and fishing in Tennessee
26	26	and Mississippi; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty managed several projects for the Tennessee Department of
28	28	Transportation prior to starting his own company, McCarty Granberry Engineering in Collierville;
29	29	and
30	30	WHEREAS, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Mississippi
31	31	State University; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty enjoys introducing the younger generation to hunting and
33	33	fishing, just as he relishes mentoring young engineers starting their careers; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty is an avid sportsman, hunter, and outdoorsman who is well
35	35	informed on the subject of the conservation of game animals, birds, and fish in this state; and
36	36	WHEREAS, John McCarty's experience and dedication to wildlife and conservation
37	37	issues will be a tremendous asset to the fish and wildlife commission; and

42	42	WHEREAS, members appointed to the fish and wildlife commission by the governor are
43	43	subject to confirmation by the committee of the house of representatives having jurisdiction over
44	44	such matter and the energy, agriculture and natural resources committee of the senate and by
45	45	joint resolution of the general assembly; now, therefore,
46	46	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
47	47	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
48	48	CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of John McCarty to a term on the fish and
49	49	wildlife commission, such term to expire on February 28, 2031.
