| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, at a time when this nation's youth face difficult challenges, the Boy Scouts |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of America is one of our finest assets, providing young men and women with an educational |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | program that contributes significantly to their character development, citizenship training, and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | improved mental and physical fitness; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, the highest rank a Scout can attain in the Boy Scouts of America Scouts |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | BSA program is that of Eagle Scout, and Michael Ayers Wimberley, after considerable effort and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | diligent preparation, attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout on October 31, 2024; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, his notable record of achievement as a member of Boy Scout Troop 387, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | chartered by Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, includes thirty-six merit badges and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | over 116 hours of distinguished volunteer service, including his Eagle project of building a |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | historically accurate lean-to for Exchange Place in Kingsport; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Michael's Eagle project greatly contributed to the betterment of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community, reflected the true spirit of volunteerism, and proved to be a formidable, yet |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | attainable, challenge; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, his troop has recognized his superlative qualities in leadership and service |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and honored him with their Scout of the Year Award and Paul Davis Leadership Award; and |

| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Michael's enthusiasm for Scouting led him to participate in High Adventure |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | trips to the BSA Sea Base, Northern Tier, and Philmont Scout Ranch, and he has attended |

| 33 | 33 | | summer camp at Camp Davy Crockett for six consecutive summers, camping a total of seventy- |

| 42 | 42 | | WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should pause to recognize Michael Ayers |
