19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, on St. Patrick's Day, all who wear the green live for a day in the spirit of the |

20 | 20 | | three Patron Saints of Ireland, Saint Patrick, Saint Brigid, and Saint Colmcille; and |

21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Irish immigrants to Tennessee helped form the cultural foundation of this |

22 | 22 | | State, and those Tennesseans of Irish lineage continue to proudly sing support for Ireland |

24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, the songs of Ireland are the tragic songs of love and the joyous songs of |

25 | 25 | | battle; they are the nostalgic reveries of the sorrows and glories that are the Emerald Isle, the |

26 | 26 | | lamentations of life's myriad travails, and the odes to joy and the life eternal; and |

27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, today, nearly one in ten Americans identify as being of Irish ancestry; Irish |

28 | 28 | | immigrants helped build the America we know today, not only the physical infrastructure, but |

29 | 29 | | also the political construct that is America; and |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, the American War of Independence began in April 1775 at Lexington and |

31 | 31 | | Concord, where "the shot heard 'round the world" continues to echo to this day; that action 250 |

41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Irish-American state legislators across the United States are playing a vitally |

44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, we are pleased to honor the American Irish State Legislators Caucus and |

45 | 45 | | its aim of fostering and strengthening the longstanding relationship that exists between the |

47 | 47 | | WHEREAS, all Tennesseans are Irish on St. Patrick's Day, and as we wear the green |
