1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Don E. Boring.

1414 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1515 the passing of Don E. Boring; and
1616 WHEREAS, Don Boring was an exemplary gentleman and consummate professional
1717 who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous
1818 capacities; and
1919 WHEREAS, from 1956 to 1989, Mr. Boring served with the Maryville Police Department,
2020 ultimately retiring as Chief of Police; from 1989 to 1999, he served as Chief Deputy for the
2121 Blount County Sheriff's Department, in which position he earned the respect of his colleagues
2222 and community alike for the exemplary quality of his work; and
2323 WHEREAS, Don Boring was an active and devout member of the Kerbela Shriners, a
2424 Freemason, and a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church, which he served for many years; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always
2626 endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and
2727 WHEREAS, Don Boring was the proud father of Terry D. (Lori) Boring, Sherry (Chuck)
2828 Blair, and Karen (Randy) Lamon; the grandfather of Olivia (Eric) Myers, Melissa (Charlie)
2929 Lindsey, Chelsea (Nick) Maute, Ryann Boring, and Chad (MacKenzie) Lamon; and the great-
3030 grandfather of ten great-grandchildren; and
3131 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring is further survived by his sisters, Laverne Copenhagen and
3232 Brenda (Jim) Jordan; and

3737 WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, Glenn Boring and Pauline Carpenter, Don Boring
3838 was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Boring, and his siblings, Larry Boring, Glennis Ball,
3939 and Janie Braun; and
4040 WHEREAS, Mr. Boring loved fishing, tending to his backyard garden, and spending time
4141 with his grandchildren; and
4242 WHEREAS, Don E. Boring leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
4343 public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen
4444 endeavors; and
4545 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
4646 remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
4747 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4848 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4949 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Don E. Boring, reflecting fondly upon his
5050 impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and
5151 conviction.
5252 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
5353 to the family of Mr. Boring.
5454 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5555 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5656 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5757 without House or Senate designation.
