<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 243 By Jones R HJR0243 003745 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Johnny Peterson of Erwin. WHEREAS, we were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Johnny Wayne Peterson of Erwin; and WHEREAS, Johnny Peterson was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born on June 13, 1969, in Erwin, Johnny Peterson graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1987 and served for more than thirty-five years with Impact Plastics, joining the company when he was only twenty years old; and WHEREAS, aside from his fame as a raconteur, Mr. Peterson was an avid hunter, whether it be with bow or rifle, and in addition to supporting Unicoi County football teams and his son's athletic career, he loved to watch both college and professional football, cheering on his cherished University of Tennessee Volunteers and Dallas Cowboys; and WHEREAS, a man of refined leisure, Mr. Peterson most enjoyed fishing with his father and his son on Boone Lake and elsewhere, and he was a sight to behold during foosball matches and frisbee golf games; and WHEREAS, Mr. Peterson, above all else, was most proud of his four children, and in all endeavors, he showcased his devotion to their well-being and happiness; and WHEREAS, during the flooding of the Nolichucky River caused by Hurricane Helene, Mr. Peterson exhibited uncommon heroism and a selfless concern for others, and his memory will be forever marked by his courage and sacrifice; and - 2 - 003745 WHEREAS, he leaves to cherish his memory his children, Alexa, Gunner, Skyler, and Jade-Noel; his children's mother, Heather; his parents, Larry Peterson and Negatha Peterson, and Jim Wilson; and his sister, Bridgett Peterson; and WHEREAS, he was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Brenda Wilson; and WHEREAS, Johnny Peterson leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Johnny Wayne Peterson, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Peterson. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
