15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should recognize |
---|
16 | 16 | | those Tennessee businesses that have a longstanding commitment to providing exceptional |
---|
17 | 17 | | service to their customers; and |

18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, one such esteemed business is Hoskins Drug Store in Clinton, which has |
---|
19 | 19 | | been owned and operated by the Hoskins family for the past ninety-five years; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, opened in April 1930 by R.C. "Dudley" Hoskins, the original Hoskins Drug |
---|
21 | 21 | | Store was located on Market Street; over time, the store expanded to thirteen locations, |
---|
22 | 22 | | including its current location on Main Street, which opened in 1947; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, now operated by Mr. Hoskins's daughters, Dudley Hoskins Bostic and |
---|
24 | 24 | | Mollie Hoskins Scarbrough, Hoskins Drug Store has witnessed many changes in the pharmacy |
---|
25 | 25 | | business since 1930, when drug compounding was the general practice and medicines came in |
---|
26 | 26 | | bags filled with powder; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, a local landmark to generations of Anderson County residents, Hoskins |
---|
28 | 28 | | Drug Store's primary location, across from the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton, draws |
---|
29 | 29 | | lawyers, politicians, and courthouse workers during the week at lunchtime with its soda fountain |
---|
30 | 30 | | and lunch counter; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Hoskins Drug Store continues to offer many of its original services, |

32 | 32 | | including a full-service pharmacy, full medical supply, hot plate lunches, and an authentic soda |

33 | 33 | | fountain that was custom-made for the drug store in the 1940s; and |

41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, an independent drug store, Hoskins Drug Store has also strived to provide |

42 | 42 | | top-of-the-line services, expanding its offerings to include immunizations, patient counseling, |

43 | 43 | | medication therapy management services, and pharmacogenomics services; and |
---|
44 | 44 | | WHEREAS, Hoskins Drug Store's special attention to customer service over the years |

45 | 45 | | has unquestionably contributed to the longevity of the business; and |
---|
46 | 46 | | WHEREAS, businesses such as Hoskins Drug Store are truly the backbone of American |
---|
47 | 47 | | society, as they combine the spirit of entrepreneurship with family values, honesty, and integrity; |

49 | 49 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |
