A RESOLUTION to recognize and congratulate Lee and Susan 
Moss upon their receipt of the Dr. Liz Rhea 
Philanthropist Award from the Ascension Saint 
Thomas Rutherford Foundation. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should acknowledge 
and applaud those estimable Tennesseans who have devoted themselves to serving their 
communities; and 
 WHEREAS, two such individuals are Lee and Susan Moss, 2025 Rutherford Society 
Gala honorees and the recipients of the Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist Award from the Ascension 
Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, an honor most befitting their unwavering commitment and 
significant contributions to their community; and 
 WHEREAS, the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation will host its eighteenth 
annual Rutherford Society Gala on March 29, 2025, at the Stones River Country Club; the event 
will feature keynote speaker Inky Johnson, a former University of Tennessee football player 
turned motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and author; and 
 WHEREAS, the Rutherford Society Gala celebrates philanthropic excellence and 
recognizes donors who have contributed $1,000 or more to the foundation; and 
 WHEREAS, Lee Moss, a respected banking leader, spent twenty-eight years at 
SunTrust Bank, where he served as president of the Rutherford County market; he later 
became chairman and CEO of MidSouth Bank before becoming president of Franklin Synergy 
Bank; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Moss's leadership has earned him numerous honors, including the 2004 
Jennings A. Jones Champion of Free Enterprise Award and being named the Rutherford County 
Chamber of Commerce's 2019 Business Legend of the Year; and

 WHEREAS, Susan Moss has been a steadfast partner to her husband, Lee Moss, 
offering unwavering support in both his professional and community pursuits; she is actively 
involved in Charity Circle, Bible Study Fellowship, and First United Methodist Church, where she 
participated in both the children's and adult choirs; and 
 WHEREAS, together, Lee and Susan Moss have made significant contributions to their 
community, including a lead gift to expand the neonatal intensive care unit at Ascension Saint 
Thomas Rutherford Hospital, now named the Lee and Susan Moss Family NICU; their enduring 
commitment to service and philanthropy makes them deserving recipients of the Dr. Liz Rhea 
Philanthropist Award; and 
 WHEREAS, Lee and Susan Moss have worked diligently to better the lives of their fellow 
citizens, and they are most worthy of our approbation; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we recognize and congratulate Lee and Susan Moss upon their receipt of 
the Dr. Liz Rhea Philanthropist Award from the Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Foundation, 
extending our best wishes for much continued success and happiness in all their future 
endeavors. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
