15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of |

16 | 16 | | the passing of Major Richard Wayne Brandt; and |

17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Major Richard Wayne Brandt, U.S. Air Force (ret.) was born on October 22, |
---|
18 | 18 | | 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Francis and Clarice Brandt; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, he received a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in |
---|
20 | 20 | | Minnesota and a Master of Arts degree in Executive Development for Public Service from Ball |
---|
21 | 21 | | State University; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Major Richard Brandt served his nation with the utmost integrity and valor |
---|
23 | 23 | | for twenty years before officially retiring with the rank of major; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, he was also employed for fifteen years by the U.S. Army Civil Service as a |
---|
25 | 25 | | drug and alcohol psychologist; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Major Brandt spent most of his government service time overseas in |
---|
27 | 27 | | Germany; while there, he was an avid volksmarcher, having walked more than the equivalent |
---|
28 | 28 | | distance of the circumference of the earth (47,004 kilometers/29,206 miles); and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, an active member of the Parkinson's music support group, the Trembling |
---|
30 | 30 | | Troubadours, Major Richard Brandt had a lifelong love of Southern Gospel music; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, a man of abiding faith, Major Brandt was a member of Delray Baptist |
---|
32 | 32 | | Church in Rossville, Georgia, which he served faithfully for many years as a deacon; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, he was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to |
---|
34 | 34 | | remain true to family values of the highest order; and |

35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-three years, Rose |

36 | 36 | | Brandt; daughter, Julie Stansel; sisters, Barbara Rudlang and Rhonda Schulte; brothers-in-law, |

49 | 49 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to |
