12	12	A RESOLUTION to recognize Lawson Electric Company on the
13	13	occasion of its 100

15	15	anniversary.

17	17	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should recognize
18	18	those historic Tennessee businesses that have a long-standing commitment to providing
19	19	exceptional service to their customers; and
20	20	WHEREAS, one such estimable entity is Lawson Electric Company, which celebrates its
21	21	100

23	23	anniversary this year, a commendable milestone for this notable Tennessee business; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Lawson Electric Company was founded as Lawson & McCaslin Electric
25	25	Company in 1925 by Lester E. Lawson and Elmer H. McCaslin; since that time, it has grown to
26	26	become one of Tennessee's largest electrical contractors, with offices in Manchester, Nashville,
27	27	and Dalton, in addition to its Chattanooga headquarters; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Lawson Electric currently employs over 500 construction personnel, field
29	29	electricians, professional engineers, project managers, designers, industrial automation
30	30	professionals, management, and clerical staff; and
31	31	WHEREAS, the company's significant investments in state-of-the-art equipment and
32	32	human resources allow Lawson Electric Company to serve its customers with the tools and
33	33	manpower required when special needs arise; and
34	34	WHEREAS, ever-committed to community, Lawson Electric has, since its inception,
35	35	serviced many long-standing businesses such as Chattanooga Coca-Cola Bottling Company,
36	36	Truist, United Way of Greater Chattanooga, Erlanger Hospital, the University of Tennessee at
37	37	Chattanooga, Tennessee American Water, the Tivoli Theatre, and BlueCross BlueShield; and
38	38	WHEREAS, in 1942, the company contributed to the Chattanooga campaign of the
39	39	American Red Cross after the U.S. entered World War II, helping to raise $125,000 city-wide;

44	44	Lawson Electric served in the Construction Division of the campaign, and the company made
45	45	the honor roll for its giving; and
46	46	WHEREAS, as the company celebrates this historic milestone, Lawson Electric remains
47	47	steadfast in its mission to do things right the first time and exceed customer expectations, all
48	48	while giving them the best value for their money; and
49	49	WHEREAS, in this, Lawson Electric Company's 100

51	51	year of operation, the business
52	52	maintains a stellar reputation; in 2018 and again in 2024, the company was honored with the
53	53	Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics, the most prestigious honor the bureau presents
54	54	to exceptional organizations for dedication to integrity and ethical practices; and
55	55	WHEREAS, since 1925, Lawson Electric Company has ably served the citizens of this
56	56	State, and it is our privilege to recognize this outstanding business on this special occasion;
57	57	now, therefore,
58	58	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
59	59	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEM BLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
60	60	CONCURRING, that we congratulate Lawson Electric Company on 100 years of operation,
61	61	wishing the iconic Tennessee business much continued success in the future.
62	62	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
63	63	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
64	64	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
65	65	without House or Senate designation.
