1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Shawna Dodds on her
1313 receipt of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award.

1515 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially
1616 recognize those estimable citizens who have dedicated their time and energies to helping
1717 others; and
1818 WHEREAS, each year, 1.3 million Tennessee volunteers give over 99 million hours of
1919 community service, contributing $2.6 billion to Tennessee's economy; and
2020 WHEREAS, these volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and by donating
2121 their time and talents to fulfill needs that would otherwise go unmet, they embody the spirit of
2222 giving; and
2323 WHEREAS, Shawna Dodds of Lauderdale County is one such exemplary person, who is
2424 a recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award in recognition of her laudable commitment
2525 to her community; and
2626 WHEREAS, an educator and mentor, Ms. Dodds is an experienced volunteer and leader
2727 among her peers, and in addition to holding multiple leadership positions in education and
2828 acting as a guide to new teachers, she generously gave of her time as the cheerleading coach
2929 at Halls High School for ten years; and
3030 WHEREAS, Ms. Dodds is a paragon of community service, organizing the annual Fourth
3131 of July Children's Parade and serving as a board member for the local library, and she actively
3232 supports PTO, school, and Halls Tiger athletic events; and
3333 WHEREAS, a woman of sincere and abiding faith, Ms. Dodds is actively involved with
3434 her local church, where she teaches twice a week and during Vacation Bible School; and

3939 WHEREAS, Ms. Dodds is a model citizen; her commitment to helping others through
4040 volunteerism epitomizes the spirit of the Volunteer State, and she should be specially
4141 recognized; now, therefore,
4242 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4343 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4444 CONCURRING, that we honor Shawna Dodds for her outstanding community leadership,
4545 congratulate her as an esteemed recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award, and extend
4646 to her our best wishes for every future success.
4747 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
4848 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
4949 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5050 without House or Senate designation.
