| 13 | 13 | | receipt of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award. |

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | recognize those estimable citizens who have dedicated their time and energies to helping |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | others; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, each year, 1.3 million Tennessee volunteers give over 99 million hours of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | community service, contributing $2.6 billion to Tennessee's economy; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, these volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and by donating |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | their time and talents to fulfill needs that would otherwise go unmet, they embody the spirit of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | giving; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Shawna Dodds of Lauderdale County is one such exemplary person, who is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award in recognition of her laudable commitment |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | to her community; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, an educator and mentor, Ms. Dodds is an experienced volunteer and leader |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | among her peers, and in addition to holding multiple leadership positions in education and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | acting as a guide to new teachers, she generously gave of her time as the cheerleading coach |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | at Halls High School for ten years; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Dodds is a paragon of community service, organizing the annual Fourth |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of July Children's Parade and serving as a board member for the local library, and she actively |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | supports PTO, school, and Halls Tiger athletic events; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, a woman of sincere and abiding faith, Ms. Dodds is actively involved with |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | her local church, where she teaches twice a week and during Vacation Bible School; and |
|---|
