| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially |

| 17 | 17 | | recognize those estimable citizens who have dedicated their time and energies to helping |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, each year, 1.3 million Tennessee volunteers give over 99 million hours of |

| 20 | 20 | | community service, contributing $2.6 billion to Tennessee's economy; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, these volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and by donating |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | their time and talents to fulfill needs that would otherwise go unmet, they embody the spirit of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | giving; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Charlene Burpo of Obion County is one such exemplary person, who is a |

| 25 | 25 | | recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award in recognition of her laudable commitment to |

| 26 | 26 | | her community; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, throughout her many years of altruism, Ms. Burpo has worked with such |

| 28 | 28 | | notable organizations as Main Street, the Carl Perkins Center, WestStar, Obion County Adult |

| 29 | 29 | | Leadership, Run the Rails, the Kiwanis Club of Union City, and the Obion County Chamber of |

| 30 | 30 | | Commerce to address the concrete needs of her fellow citizens, including economic growth, |

| 31 | 31 | | quality of life, tourism, and leadership cultivation; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, her apparent and impressive leadership qualities push her to the forefront of |

| 33 | 33 | | every initiative she joins, and during her term as president of the Kiwanis Club of Union City, |

| 34 | 34 | | she deployed the group's fervor and resources to install an inclusive playground in downtown |
