1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Rachel Luckey on her
1313 receipt of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award.

1515 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially
1616 recognize those estimable citizens who have dedicated their time and energies to helping
1717 others; and
1818 WHEREAS, each year, 1.3 million Tennessee volunteers give over 99 million hours of
1919 community service, contributing $2.6 billion to Tennessee's economy; and
2020 WHEREAS, these volunteers are the backbone of our communities, and by donating
2121 their time and talents to fulfill needs that would otherwise go unmet, they embody the spirit of
2222 giving; and
2323 WHEREAS, Rachel Luckey of Gibson County is one such exemplary person, who is a
2424 recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award in recognition of her laudable commitment to
2525 her community; and
2626 WHEREAS, a dedicated community advocate, Rachel Luckey channels her love for
2727 cooking and passion for children through Cotton Cares, a community service initiative focused
2828 on feeding those in need; by providing meals to local families, she uses her culinary skills to
2929 make a positive impact on her community; and
3030 WHEREAS, a fourth-generation farmer at Rege Luckey and Son Farms, Ms. Luckey
3131 fosters animals, grows produce on her family's cotton farm, and helps distribute the produce to
3232 feed her community; and
3333 WHEREAS, further, she lends her culinary skills to the Helping Hand of Humboldt soup
3434 kitchen and serves as a counselor at Lakeshore Summer Church Camp, and she is involved

3939 with Ronald McDonald House Charities and participates in the National Cherry Blossom
4040 Princess Program; and
4141 WHEREAS, Ms. Luckey is a model citizen; her commitment to helping others through
4242 volunteerism epitomizes the spirit of the Volunteer State, and she should be specially
4343 recognized; now, therefore,
4444 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4545 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4646 CONCURRING, that we honor Rachel Luckey for her outstanding community leadership,
4747 congratulate her as an esteemed recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Stars Award, and extend
4848 to her our best wishes for every future success.
4949 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5050 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5151 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
