1212 A RESOLUTION to commemorate the 250

1414 anniversary of the
1515 Battles of Lexington and Concord.

1717 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should commemorate
1818 those historic events that shaped the foundation of our nation and honor the courage and
1919 sacrifice of those who fought for the cause of American independence; and
2020 WHEREAS, April 19, 2025, marks the 250

2222 anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and
2323 Concord, which were fought on April 19, 1775, and signaled the beginning of the American
2424 Revolutionary War; and
2525 WHEREAS, these pivotal engagements, which followed the legendary midnight ride of
2626 Paul Revere, saw the confrontation between colonial minutemen and British regulars and gave
2727 rise to the immortal phrase, "the shot heard round the world"; and
2828 WHEREAS, the minutemen, ordinary citizens trained and prepared to respond at a
2929 moment's notice, stood with extraordinary courage and resolve in defense of their homes, their
3030 rights, and the principles of self-government; and
3131 WHEREAS, the courageous patriots who lost their lives at Lexington Green and on the
3232 road to Concord paid the ultimate price in the earliest moments of a long and arduous struggle
3333 for American independence; and
3434 WHEREAS, their bravery and sacrifice helped ignite the flame of liberty that would
3535 eventually give birth to the United States of America, inspiring generations of Americans in their
3636 ongoing pursuit of freedom and justice; and
3737 WHEREAS, we hold deep reverence for the legacy of the American Revolution and the
3838 men and women whose actions forged the path to nationhood; now, therefore,

4848 Concord, honoring the patriot minutemen who stood ready to defend their liberties and those
4949 who gave their lives in the cause of American freedom.
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5151 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5252 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
