17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should commemorate |

18 | 18 | | those historic events that shaped the foundation of our nation and honor the courage and |

19 | 19 | | sacrifice of those who fought for the cause of American independence; and |

20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, April 19, 2025, marks the 250 |
---|

22 | 22 | | anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and |
---|
23 | 23 | | Concord, which were fought on April 19, 1775, and signaled the beginning of the American |
---|
24 | 24 | | Revolutionary War; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, these pivotal engagements, which followed the legendary midnight ride of |
---|
26 | 26 | | Paul Revere, saw the confrontation between colonial minutemen and British regulars and gave |
---|
27 | 27 | | rise to the immortal phrase, "the shot heard round the world"; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, the minutemen, ordinary citizens trained and prepared to respond at a |
---|
29 | 29 | | moment's notice, stood with extraordinary courage and resolve in defense of their homes, their |
---|
30 | 30 | | rights, and the principles of self-government; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, the courageous patriots who lost their lives at Lexington Green and on the |
---|
32 | 32 | | road to Concord paid the ultimate price in the earliest moments of a long and arduous struggle |
---|
33 | 33 | | for American independence; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, their bravery and sacrifice helped ignite the flame of liberty that would |

35 | 35 | | eventually give birth to the United States of America, inspiring generations of Americans in their |

37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, we hold deep reverence for the legacy of the American Revolution and the |
