A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of John Hamilton of 
Dyersburg. 
 
 WHEREAS, we were greatly saddened to learn of the untimely passing of John Hamilton 
of Dyersburg; and 
WHEREAS, John Hamilton was an exemplary public servant and consummate 
professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in 
numerous capacities; and 
WHEREAS, born on February 19, 1961, to James A. Hamilton, Jr., and Mary Nelle 
Hamilton, Mr. Hamilton was a successful business owner in his community, providing reputable 
and reliable service to his neighbors, and his position on the Dyer County Building and Zoning 
Board was but a further testament to his meaningful and effective local involvement; and 
WHEREAS, recognizing his consistent and thorough excellence, Governor Bill Lee 
appointed Mr. Hamilton to the Tennessee Alcohol and Beverage Commission in 2022, a 
position that he served admirably and ardently; and 
WHEREAS, thoughtful of this world and the next, Mr. Hamilton was a member of 
Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and his faithful tenure as an elder garnered the respect and 
esteem of his congregation; and 
 WHEREAS, he was also deeply devoted to his beloved wife, Angie, who worked as a 
librarian in the Dyersburg City Schools system, and to their two daughters, and he always 
endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and 
 WHEREAS, preceded in death by his parents, John Hamilton will be sadly mourned yet 
fondly remembered by his wife, Angela N. Hamilton; his daughters, Elizabeth Hamilton and 
Emily Hamilton; his brother, James A. Hamilton III; and his sister-in-law, Olivia A. Crews; and

 WHEREAS, John Hamilton leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in 
public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen 
endeavors; and 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should remember the bountiful life of this exceptional 
gentleman and human being; now, therefore,  
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRES ENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of John Hamilton, reflecting fondly upon his 
impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and 
conviction. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences 
to the family of Mr. Hamilton. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
