12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Don Kelley of
13	13	Lawrenceburg.

15	15	WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
16	16	the passing of Don Kelley; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional
18	18	who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous
19	19	capacities; and
20	20	WHEREAS, a native of Lawrenceburg, Don Kelley was the retired fire chief of the
21	21	Lawrenceburg Fire Department, in which position he earned the respect of his colleagues and
22	22	community alike for the exemplary quality of his work; additionally, he lent his skills and
23	23	expertise as a firefighter to the Tennessee State Fire Academy, where he served as an
24	24	instructor; and
25	25	WHEREAS, he further served his community as a member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary
26	26	Club; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley evinced his religious faith as a member of Mars Hill Baptist
28	28	Church, which he served faithfully for many years; and
29	29	WHEREAS, a keen sportsman, Mr. Kelley was a member of the NRA and an avid
30	30	fisherman; and
31	31	WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley was deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to
32	32	remain true to family values of the highest order; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Don Kelley is survived by his daughter, Kassie Kelly; his mother, Marjorie
34	34	Inman (Jimmy) Jones; his loving companion, Pam Lipscomb; and his niece, Kelli Daniel; and
35	35	WHEREAS, in addition to his father, L. V. Kelley, Don Kelley was preceded in death by
36	36	his sister, Sandy Glass, and his brother, Terry Wayne Kelley; and

41	41	WHEREAS, Don Kelley leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
42	42	public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen
43	43	endeavors; and
44	44	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
45	45	remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
46	46	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
47	47	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
48	48	CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Don Kelley, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable
49	49	character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
50	50	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
51	51	to the family of Mr. Kelley.
52	52	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
53	53	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
54	54	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
55	55	without House or Senate designation.
