1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Don Kelley of
1313 Lawrenceburg.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the passing of Don Kelley; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley was an exemplary public servant and consummate professional
1818 who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous
1919 capacities; and
2020 WHEREAS, a native of Lawrenceburg, Don Kelley was the retired fire chief of the
2121 Lawrenceburg Fire Department, in which position he earned the respect of his colleagues and
2222 community alike for the exemplary quality of his work; additionally, he lent his skills and
2323 expertise as a firefighter to the Tennessee State Fire Academy, where he served as an
2424 instructor; and
2525 WHEREAS, he further served his community as a member of the Lawrenceburg Rotary
2626 Club; and
2727 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley evinced his religious faith as a member of Mars Hill Baptist
2828 Church, which he served faithfully for many years; and
2929 WHEREAS, a keen sportsman, Mr. Kelley was a member of the NRA and an avid
3030 fisherman; and
3131 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley was deeply devoted to his family, and he always endeavored to
3232 remain true to family values of the highest order; and
3333 WHEREAS, Don Kelley is survived by his daughter, Kassie Kelly; his mother, Marjorie
3434 Inman (Jimmy) Jones; his loving companion, Pam Lipscomb; and his niece, Kelli Daniel; and
3535 WHEREAS, in addition to his father, L. V. Kelley, Don Kelley was preceded in death by
3636 his sister, Sandy Glass, and his brother, Terry Wayne Kelley; and

4141 WHEREAS, Don Kelley leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
4242 public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen
4343 endeavors; and
4444 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
4545 remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
4646 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4747 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4848 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Don Kelley, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable
4949 character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
5151 to the family of Mr. Kelley.
5252 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5353 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5454 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5555 without House or Senate designation.
