12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Carla Parker on her
13	13	selection as the 2024-2025 Cannon County
14	14	School District Grades 5-8 Teacher of the Year.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
17	17	specially recognize those outstanding teachers who have devoted their careers to providing the
18	18	highest-quality education for Tennessee's students; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Carla Parker is one such estimable educator, who has distinguished herself
20	20	as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Mrs. Parker has been selected as the 2024-2025 Cannon County School
22	22	District Grades 5-8 Teacher of the Year, a most befitting honor that recognizes the positive
23	23	influence she has on so many young lives; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Carla Parker is a sixth-grade teacher at Cannon County Middle School,
25	25	having taught for twenty-one years in total; in addition to her work in the classroom, she has
26	26	been a Beta Club sponsor, a member of the school's medical response team, a Capturing Kids'
27	27	Hearts Process Champion, a volunteer with WeCareCannon, and a member of the Cannon
28	28	County Senior Center Advisory Board; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Mrs. Parker, wishing to provide all students with equal access to quality
30	30	education, has generously given of her time to help the AmeriCorps program serve
31	31	disadvantaged youth, working to secure for every young person the same possibilities and
32	32	bright futures as their peers; and
33	33	WHEREAS, steeping herself in further study to better her teaching, Mrs. Parker
34	34	graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree and is currently
35	35	earning her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Tennessee State University; and

40	40	WHEREAS, no stranger to accolades, Mrs. Parker has previously been recognized for
41	41	her outstanding pedagogical accomplishments by being named the Teacher of the Year in
42	42	2008, 2014, and 2020; and
43	43	WHEREAS, she is an extremely talented and compassionate educator who works
44	44	assiduously to motivate her students to reach their full potential, both as scholars and as
45	45	citizens; and
46	46	WHEREAS, Mrs. Parker serves as an inspiration to her colleagues and students alike,
47	47	and her friendship and counsel are highly valued by those who are fortunate to know her; and
48	48	WHEREAS, Carla Parker truly epitomizes the dedicated teacher who is wholly
49	49	committed to the highest ideals of public service and quality education for all, and she should be
50	50	specially recognized; now, therefore,
51	51	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF T HE ONE HUNDRED
52	52	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
53	53	CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Carla Parker on being chosen as the
54	54	Cannon County School District Grades 5-8 Teacher of the Year, commend her exceptional
55	55	service to the children of Tennessee, salute her professional expertise and personal excellence,
56	56	and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
57	57	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
58	58	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
59	59	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
60	60	without House or Senate designation.
