1212 A RESOLUTION to commemorate Motorcycle Safety and
1313 Awareness Month in Tennessee, May 2025.

1515 WHEREAS, safety is the highest priority for the streets and highways of our State and its
1616 cities; and
1717 WHEREAS, many thousands of Tennessee residents and visitors enjoy motorcycling as
1818 an energy-efficient mode of transportation and as an enjoyable recreational activity; and
1919 WHEREAS, increased awareness and knowledge of the rules of the road, combined
2020 with the development of good riding/driving skills, are necessary for the safe operation of all
2121 vehicles; and
2222 WHEREAS, education of both motorcycle riders and operators of other motor vehicles is
2323 necessary to reduce the pain, suffering, and economic losses caused by traffic crashes; and
2424 WHEREAS, the Department of Safety trains up to 10,000 Tennessee citizens per year to
2525 safely ride motorcycles through the Motorcycle Rider Education Program that is supported by
2626 additional dollars paid through motorcyclists' registrations; and
2727 WHEREAS, the Concerned Motorcyclists of Tennessee/American Bikers Active Towards
2828 Education, the National Motorcycle Riders Foundation, and the Tennessee Confederation of
2929 Clubs are instrumental in saving lives through their volunteerism in safety and awareness
3030 programs; now, therefore,
3131 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
3232 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
3333 CONCURRING, that we join with the good people of the Volunteer State in commemorating
3434 Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month in Tennessee, May 2025.

3939 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
4040 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
4141 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
4242 without House or Senate designation.
