12	12	A RESOLUTION to recognize and commend the members of the
13	13	Stewarts Creek High School Band for their
14	14	service as ambassadors of Tennessee during
15	15	their performance at the Sixtieth Presidential
16	16	Inaugural Parade.

18	18	WHEREAS, it is the privilege of the members of this General Assembly to recognize
19	19	those exemplary Tennessee public high school music programs that embody exceptional talent,
20	20	dedication, and service, proudly representing our State on the local, national, and international
21	21	stages; and
22	22	WHEREAS, one such distinguished group of young musicians is the Stewarts Creek
23	23	High School Band, founded in 2013, which has quickly established itself as a source of
24	24	immense pride for the Town of Smyrna and Rutherford County by consistently demonstrating
25	25	musical excellence and community service; and
26	26	WHEREAS, since its founding, the Stewarts Creek High School Band has consistently
27	27	upheld a high standard of musical excellence, receiving superior ratings in concert and sight-
28	28	reading performance from the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association
29	29	(MTSBOA) and recognition from the Tennessee Arts Academy, including the 2024 "School of
30	30	Merit" and "Arts-Rich High School" designations; and
31	31	WHEREAS, the Stewarts Creek High School Band has been honored seven times by
32	32	the American School Band Directors Association with the prestigious Award of Distinction in
33	33	Concert Performance; and
34	34	WHEREAS, demonstrating its artistic distinction, the Stewarts Creek High School Wind
35	35	Ensemble was selected to perform at the Sixty-First Annual Tennessee Music Education
36	36	Association (TMEA) Music Education Conference; and

41	41	WHEREAS, the Stewarts Creek High School Band routinely leads all Rutherford County
42	42	schools in the number of students earning selection to the esteemed MTSBOA All-Mid-State
43	43	Bands and the TMEA All-State Bands through competitive auditions; and
44	44	WHEREAS, the Stewarts Creek High School Band has proudly served as an
45	45	ambassador for Rutherford County and the State of Tennessee through notable performances
46	46	at events such as the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, the dedication of the Captain
47	47	Jeff Kuss USMC Memorial, and a national television appearance on WGN-America for the
48	48	Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade; and
49	49	WHEREAS, further adding to its impressive résumé, the Stewarts Creek High School
50	50	Band notably appeared in the 2025 Amazon Studios movie Holland; and
51	51	WHEREAS, the continued success of the Stewarts Creek High School Band has been
52	52	expertly guided by Directors Debbie Burton and Michael Chester, Director of Percussion Alexis
53	53	Yatuzis-Derryberry, Color Guard Director Allison Mader, and Stewarts Creek Middle School
54	54	Band Directors Elijah Gilmore and Brittany Jerrell, with invaluable support from Principal Dr.
55	55	Clark Harrell; and
56	56	WHEREAS, high-quality music and arts education programs significantly contribute to
57	57	developing well-rounded students, fostering social-emotional growth, inclusivity, and cultural
58	58	awareness, and enhancing educational outcomes, aligning with both the Every Student
59	59	Succeeds Act and Tennessee State law; now, therefore,
60	60	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
61	61	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
62	62	CONCURRING, that we recognize the Stewarts Creek High School Band for proudly
63	63	representing the State of Tennessee as one of only two high school bands nationwide selected
64	64	to perform in Washington, D.C., at the Sixtieth Presidential Inaugural Parade of Donald J.
65	65	Trump and J.D. Vance on January 20, 2025.

70	70	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we commend the directors, students, and supporters
71	71	of the Stewarts Creek High School Band, applaud their outstanding accomplishments and
72	72	dedication to musical excellence and community service, and extend to them our best wishes
73	73	for their continued success.
74	74	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
75	75	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
76	76	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
77	77	without House or Senate designation.
