12	12	A RESOLUTION to commend Malik Abdullah for exemplary
13	13	service as a legislative intern.

15	15	WHEREAS, each legislative session, this General Assembly is pleased to recognize
16	16	certain persons who have committed themselves, through their adroit service, to the betterment
17	17	of the legislative process; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah is one such individual, who has distinguished himself in his
19	19	role as a legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson; Mr. Abdullah's work has
20	20	resulted in innumerable benefits for the legislators he assisted and the General Assembly as a
21	21	whole; and
22	22	WHEREAS, a senior at Tennessee State University, where he is highly regarded by his
23	23	peers, Malik Abdullah has achieved remarkable academic success while majoring in political
24	24	science; he plans to attend law school and ultimately become a member of the bar; and
25	25	WHEREAS, eager to familiarize himself with the myriad aspects and complexities of
26	26	Tennessee State government and to further his studies, Malik Abdullah brought his many
27	27	abilities and singular expertise to Capitol Hill for the 2025 session of the One Hundred
28	28	Fourteenth General Assembly, having previously served during the One Hundred Thirteenth
29	29	General Assembly; and
30	30	WHEREAS, throughout the 2025 legislative session, Mr. Abdullah has surpassed all
31	31	criteria that define a devoted and conscientious legislative intern; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Malik Abdullah has performed his many duties with extraordinary insight
33	33	and rare decorum, and his efforts are surely a source of pride for his parents, Hamid Abdullah
34	34	and Candice Smoots; his university; and his community; now, therefore,

39	39	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
40	40	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF T HE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
41	41	CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Malik Abdullah for outstanding service as a
42	42	legislative intern for Representative Antonio Parkinson and extend to him our best wishes for
43	43	every future success.
44	44	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
45	45	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
46	46	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
47	47	without House or Senate designation.
