A RESOLUTION to honor and recognize Rex Teixeira and the 
Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration on 
their efforts to raise awareness of 
Frontotemporal Degeneration. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that we honor those individuals and organizations that 
are working tirelessly to enlighten the residents of the State of Tennessee about Frontotemporal 
Degeneration; and  
 WHEREAS, Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) is a terminal and incurable 
neurodegenerative disease affecting the frontal and temporal lobes, causing impairments to 
speech, personality, behavior, and motor skills, which constitutes a major public health concern; 
and  
 WHEREAS, FTD may strike people between the ages of twenty-one and eighty, with the 
largest percentage of those affected being between forty-five and sixty-four years of age, 
rendering people in the prime of life unable to work or function normally; and  
 WHEREAS, while there has never been a global epidemiology study of FTD, it is 
estimated that more than 60,000 people are affected in the United States today; and  
 WHEREAS, Rex Teixeira of Franklin, a high school student whose father is living with 
Frontotemporal Degeneration, is one noble Tennessean who is working as an advocate in 
support of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration's efforts to bring awareness about 
FTD to the public at large; and  
 WHEREAS, the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration is the leading national 
organization exclusively focused on the spectrum of FTD disorders with a mission to improve 
the quality of life for people affected by FTD and drive research to a cure; and

 WHEREAS, Rex Teixeira and the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration are 
anticipating that greater of awareness of FTD will help make a difference, resulting in more 
research, funding, and support for patients and families with hope that a cure can be found; and  
 WHEREAS, it is important that we help bring greater awareness of this serious disease 
to the residents of Tennessee; now, therefore,  
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor and commend Rex Teixeira and the Association for 
Frontotemporal Degeneration on their efforts to raise awareness of Frontotemporal 
Degeneration in the State of Tennessee. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
