11	11	A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Ina F. Maxwell,
12	12	Ph.D., to the State Board of Education.

14	14	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides for the creation of
15	15	the State Board of Education; and
16	16	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301(a)(3)(A)(ii), provides that the
17	17	Speaker of the House of Representatives shall appoint three members to the State Board of
18	18	Education representing the 2

24	24	congressional districts; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Speaker Cameron Sexton has appointed Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., to the State
26	26	Board of Education for a term that will expire on March 31, 2029, as a member representing the

29	29	Congressional District; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., is a person of integrity and an active citizen whose
31	31	benevolence, acumen, and strong commitment to public service have helped to enhance the
32	32	well-being of this State and its citizens; and
33	33	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-301, provides that each member
34	34	appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to the State Board of Education shall
35	35	be confirmed by resolution of the House of Representatives; now, therefore,
36	36	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOU SE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
37	37	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, that this body does
38	38	hereby confirm the appointment of Ina F. Maxwell, Ph.D., to the State Board of Education for a
39	39	term that will expire on March 31, 2029.
