12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Jerry Lee Byrd upon
13	13	being named the 2024 Master Logger of the
14	14	Year by the Tennessee Forestry Association.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should salute those citizens who, through their
17	17	extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as community leaders of whom we can all
18	18	be proud; and
19	19	WHEREAS, one such noteworthy individual is Jerry Lee Byrd of Unicoi, who was
20	20	selected as the 2024 Master Logger of the Year by the Tennessee Forestry Association; and
21	21	WHEREAS, a fifth-generation logger, Mr. Byrd operates Jerry Lee Byrd Logging, LLC, in
22	22	the mountains of East Tennessee; and
23	23	WHEREAS, he always knew he wanted to be in the logging business; he went to work
24	24	for his dad and purchased his first truck, a 1989 Mack that he still runs today, straight out of high
25	25	school; and
26	26	WHEREAS, in 2004, when his father was disabled due to a logging truck accident, Jerry
27	27	Byrd took over the logging business as his own, and for more than two decades, he has
28	28	operated the company with integrity and ingenuity; and
29	29	WHEREAS, for Jerry Lee Byrd Logging, LLC, Mr. Byrd utilizes a Komatsu Trac Hoe with
30	30	a Ryan's cutting head, a 648H John Deere Skidder, a 700J John Deere Dozer, and a Barko
31	31	knuckle boom; and
32	32	WHEREAS, his crew is made up of a truck driver, a skidder operator, and a timber
33	33	cutter; and
34	34	WHEREAS, throughout his many successes, Mr. Byrd has enjoyed the love and support
35	35	of his wife, Sarah, and their children, Millie and Russ; and

40	40	WHEREAS, when he is not logging, he can be found spending time with his family,
41	41	working on their farm, and hunting; and
42	42	WHEREAS, Jerry Byrd epitomizes the spirit and commitment that are characteristic of a
43	43	true Tennessean; and
44	44	WHEREAS, we find it appropriate to acknowledge and applaud Mr. Byrd for his
45	45	dedication to the State of Tennessee and its citizens; now, therefore,
46	46	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
47	47	FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TEN NESSEE, that we honor and
48	48	congratulate Jerry Lee Byrd upon being named the 2024 Master Logger of the Year by the
49	49	Tennessee Forestry Association and extend to him our best wishes for success in all his future
50	50	endeavors.
51	51	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
52	52	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy.
