16 | 16 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
17 | 17 | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 63-22-104(3)(B), is amended by | |
18 | 18 | deleting the language "Has obtained" and substituting "Except as provided in subsection (b), | |
19 | 19 | has obtained". | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 63-22-104, is amended by | |
21 | 21 | designating the existing language as subsection (a), and adding the following as a new | |
22 | 22 | subsection (b): | |
23 | 23 | (b) Subdivision (a)(3)(B) does not apply to an applicant for licensure as a | |
24 | 24 | professional counselor if: | |
25 | 25 | (1) The applicant has a valid, unencumbered license as a professional | |
26 | 26 | counselor issued by another state, territory, or federal district of the United | |
27 | 27 | States; and | |
28 | 28 | (2) The requirements for licensure as a professional counselor by that | |
29 | 29 | issuing state, territory, or federal district are judged to be acceptable by the | |
30 | 30 | board. | |
31 | 31 | SECTION 3. For the purpose of promulgating rules to effectuate this act, this act takes | |
32 | 32 | effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. For all other purposes, this act takes | |
33 | 33 | effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
