1313 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 64,
1414 Chapter 3 and Title 64, Chapter 4, relative to the
1515 economic impact of the cosmetology and
1616 barbering professions.

1818 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1919 SECTION 1.
2020 (a) The Tennessee advisory commission on intergovernmental relations (TACIR)
2121 shall study the economic impact that the cosmetology and barbering professions have in
2222 this state, including revenue generated through the services provided and the number of
2323 jobs generated by the professions.
2424 (b) TACIR may request information and input from the department of commerce
2525 and insurance and other appropriate state and local governmental entities, as
2626 necessary, and such entities shall comply with TACIR's request. The study must be
2727 conducted from TACIR's existing resources.
2828 (c) Upon completion of the study required by subsection (a), TACIR shall report
2929 its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the chair of the
3030 commerce and labor committee of the senate and the chair of the committee of the
3131 house of representatives having jurisdiction over cosmetology and barbering, and
3232 provide a copy of the report to the legislative librarian. The report may be delivered
3333 electronically.
3434 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
