| 18 | 18 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 38-8-111, is amended by adding the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | following as a new subsection: |

| 21 | 21 | | (h) |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (1) Campus police officers and public safety officers successfully |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | completing the annual in-service training as required by ยง 38-8-107(d) must |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | receive cash salary supplements in the same manner and under the same |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | conditions as set forth in this part for police officers, except that the commission |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | shall make the funds for salary supplements available to the appropriate |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | institutions, schools, or boards for payment to campus police officers and public |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | safety officers. |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (2) Notwithstanding another law to the contrary, campus police officers |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | and public safety officers who served, or serve, on active duty in the armed |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | forces of the United States during a period of armed conflict prescribed by |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | presidential proclamation or federal law must receive the cash salary supplement |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | provided pursuant to this subsection (h), if the service prevented, or prevents, the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | campus police officer or public safety officer from attending the in-service training |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | program. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
