| 18 | 18 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: |

| 19 | 19 | | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 58, Chapter 1, Part 2, is amended by |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | adding the following as a new section: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (a) This section is known and may be cited as the "Tennessee National Guard |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Servicemember's Medical Readiness Act." |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (b) The Tennessee national guard TRICARE premium reimbursement program |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | is created within the military department. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (c) As used in this section, unless the context otherwise requires, "eligible |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | recipient" means an individual who is: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (1) A member of the Tennessee national guard; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (2) Eligible for TRICARE reserve select or TRICARE dental program |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | coverage. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (d) The military department may award reimbursement grants to an eligible |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | recipient who meets the reimbursement application requirements established by the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | adjutant general for reimbursement of one (1) or both of the following: |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (1) A premium paid for individual coverage for an eligible recipient |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | through the TRICARE reserve select program; or |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (2) A premium paid for individual coverage for an eligible recipient |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | through the TRICARE dental program. |

| 41 | 41 | | (e) If any portion of the premiums eligible for reimbursement in this section are |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | later paid for, reimbursed, or otherwise provided to an eligible recipient by the federal |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | government, then that portion shall cease to be reimbursed by the TRICARE premium |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | reimbursement program established in this section. |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | (f) The adjutant general shall adopt and publish written policies and guidelines to |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | effectuate the purposes of this section. |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | SECTION 2. This act is not an appropriation of funds, and funds must not be obligated |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | or expended pursuant to this act unless the funds are specifically appropriated by the general |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | appropriations act. |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | SECTION 3. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
