1312 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4,
1413 Chapter 3; Title 12, Chapter 4; Title 50, Chapter
1514 11; Title 62, Chapter 6 and Title 66, Chapter 34,
1615 relative to apprenticeships.

1817 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1918 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 50, Chapter 11, is amended by adding
2019 the following new section:
2120 (a) As used in this section, "state construction contracts" means state contracts
2221 for the construction, reconstruction, improvement, rehabilitation, installation, alteration,
2322 renovation, demolition of, or otherwise providing for, any building, facility, or physical
2423 structure in this state with a minimum value of one million dollars ($1,000,000).
2524 (b) A state agency submitting requests for proposals for state construction
2625 contracts is encouraged to include the following provision in the request:
2726 Will you, other contractors, subcontractors, or anyone else employed to
2827 work on any stage of this construction project be employing apprentices
2928 on the project pursuant to a certified or registered apprenticeship program
3029 in accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 50, Chapter 11?
3130 (c) A contractor, subcontractor, or other person employed to work at any stage
3231 of a state construction project pursuant to a state construction contract is encouraged to
3332 employ apprentices on the project pursuant to a certified or registered apprenticeship
3433 program in accordance with this chapter.
3534 SECTION 2. This act takes effect November 1, 2026, the public welfare requiring it.
