1313 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 55,
1414 Chapter 4, Part 1, relative to registration and
1515 licensing of motor vehicles.

1717 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1818 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 55-4-105, is amended by deleting
1919 subsection (c) and substituting:
2020 (c)
2121 (1) Each county clerk shall provide a mail order service for the renewal of
2222 registrations whereby registrants may apply for and receive the renewal
2323 certificates and plates or decals through the United States postal service. Except
2424 as otherwise required by law, an application for renewal by mail must be
2525 postmarked not later than twenty (20) days before the license expiration date to
2626 allow time for processing.
2727 (2) Each county clerk may impose a fee for service of handling mail
2828 orders of plates and decals. The fee for the service of handling mail orders of
2929 plates is seven dollars ($7.00), and the fee for the service of handling mail orders
3030 of decals is three dollars ($3.00).
3131 (3) Each county clerk is authorized to increase the fees provided in
3232 subdivision (c)(2) in an amount not to exceed any applicable United States postal
3333 service price increase in any given year.
3434 SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it.
