1313 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 71,
1414 Chapter 5, Part 3, relative to food assistance.

1616 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1717 SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 71-5-318, is amended by deleting
1818 subsections (b) and (c) and substituting:
1919 (b) The department shall annually identify any federal waivers it deems
2020 necessary to alleviate any federal regulatory limitations it identifies pursuant to
2121 subsection (a), and shall, no later than October 31 of each year, as applicable, submit
2222 applications to the federal government for such waivers.
2323 (c) On or before December 31 of each year, the department shall submit a report
2424 to the chair of the health and welfare committee of the senate, the chair of the committee
2525 of the house of representatives with subject matter jurisdiction over health, and the
2626 legislative librarian that details its findings pursuant to subsection (a), describes any
2727 waiver applications it has submitted pursuant to subsection (b) and the status of such
2828 applications, and includes recommendations to the general assembly for any statutory
2929 changes the department deems necessary to facilitate efficient processing and approval
3030 of applications and delivery of benefits for the food assistance program.
3131 SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
