13+AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 62,
14+Chapter 3 and Title 62, Chapter 4, relative to the
15+economic impact of the cosmetology and
16+barbering professions.

1118 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1219 SECTION 1.
1320 (a) The Tennessee advisory commission on intergovernmental relations (TACIR)
1421 shall study the economic impact that the cosmetology and barbering professions have in
1522 this state, including revenue generated through the services provided and the number of
1623 jobs generated by the professions.
1724 (b) TACIR may request information and input from the department of commerce
1825 and insurance and other appropriate state and local governmental entities, as
1926 necessary, and such entities shall comply with TACIR's request. The study must be
2027 conducted from TACIR's existing resources.
2128 (c) Upon completion of the study required by subsection (a), TACIR shall report
2229 its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the chair of the
2330 commerce and labor committee of the senate and the chair of the committee of the
2431 house of representatives having jurisdiction over cosmetology and barbering, and
2532 provide a copy of the report to the legislative librarian. The report may be delivered
2633 electronically.
27-SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. HOUSE BILL NO. 862
