12	12	AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section
13	13	12-10-109 and Title 42, relative to parking fee
14	14	exemptions for military service.

16	16	BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
17	17	SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 42, Chapter 3, Part 1, is amended by
18	18	adding the following as a new section:
19	19	(a) A motor vehicle on which an eligible military or memorial license plate
20	20	described by subsection (b) is displayed is exempt from the payment of an airport
21	21	parking fee collected or charged by an authority other than a branch of the federal
22	22	government, when being operated by or for the transportation of:
23	23	(1) An owner or lessee of the vehicle; or
24	24	(2) A disabled veteran, as described in § 55-4-256 or § 55-4-277.
25	25	(b) The following are eligible military or memorial license plates:
26	26	(1) Congressional Medal of Honor, under § 55-4-258;
27	27	(2) Distinguished Service Cross, Navy Cross, Air Force Cross, Silver
28	28	Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star (Valor), or Air Medal (Valor), under
29	29	§ 55-4-259;
30	30	(3) Holder of the Purple Heart, under § 55-4-257;
31	31	(4) Disabled Veteran, under § 55-4-256;
32	32	(5) Disabled Veteran (service-connected), under § 55-4-277;
33	33	(6) Former Prisoner of War, under § 55-4-261;
34	34	(7) Bronze Star (Meritorious) or Air Medal (Meritorious), under § 55-4-

40	40	(8) Legion of Merit, under § 55-4-275; and
41	41	(9) A disabled veteran license plate issued by another state.
42	42	SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 42, Chapter 4, is amended by adding
43	43	the following as a new section:
44	44	(a) A motor vehicle on which an eligible military or memorial license plate
45	45	described by subsection (b) is displayed is exempt from the payment of an airport
46	46	parking fee collected or charged by an authority other than a branch of the federal
47	47	government, when being operated by or for the transportation of:
48	48	(1) An owner or lessee of the vehicle; or
49	49	(2) A disabled veteran, as described in § 55-4-256 or § 55-4-277.
50	50	(b) The following are eligible military or memorial license plates:

57	57	(5) Disabled Veteran (service-connected), under § 55-4-277;

59	59	(7) Bronze Star (Meritorious) or Air Medal (Meritorious), under § 55-4-
60	60	260;
61	61	(8) Legion of Merit, under § 55-4-275; and
62	62	(9) A disabled veteran license plate issued by another state.
63	63	SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 42, Chapter 5, Part 1, is amended by

82	82	(5) Disabled Veteran (service-connected), under § 55-4-277;

84	84	(7) Bronze Star (Meritorious) or Air Medal (Meritorious), under § 55-4-
85	85	260;
86	86	(8) Legion of Merit, under § 55-4-275; and
87	87	(9) A disabled veteran license plate issued by another state.
88	88	SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 12-10-109(e), is amended by
89	89	deleting the language "except as expressly provided in this chapter" and substituting instead the
90	90	language "except as expressly provided in this chapter or in Sections 1, 2, and 3 of this act".
91	91	SECTION 5. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it.
