17 | 17 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
18 | 18 | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 1, is amended by adding | |
19 | 19 | the following as a new section: | |
20 | 20 | (a) As used in this section, "unauthorized alien" means a person who is | |
21 | 21 | unlawfully present in the United States according to the terms of the federal Immigration | |
22 | 22 | and Nationality Act, 8 U.S.C. ยง 1101 et. seq., and must be interpreted consistently with | |
23 | 23 | any applicable federal statutes, rules, or regulations. | |
24 | 24 | (b) Notwithstanding another law to the contrary, an unauthorized alien does not | |
25 | 25 | have standing to commence or appear as a plaintiff in any civil action brought in this | |
26 | 26 | state. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
