13	13	AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4;
14	14	Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 8 and Title 49, Chapter
15	15	7, relative to the "Dismantling DEI Departments

18	18	BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
19	19	SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Dismantling DEI Departments
20	20	Act."
21	21	SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 1, Part 4, is amended by
22	22	adding the following as a new section:
23	23	A department, agency, or other unit of state government shall not maintain or
24	24	authorize an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in
25	25	an effort to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs,
26	26	activities, guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other
27	27	declarations by such office or department are void.
28	28	SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 5, Chapter 1, Part 1, is amended by
29	29	adding the following as a new section:
30	30	A county government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department that
31	31	promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity, equity,
32	32	or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
33	33	enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
34	34	are void.
35	35	SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 6, Chapter 54, Part 1, is amended by
36	36	adding the following as a new section:

41	41	A municipal government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department
42	42	that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity,
43	43	equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
44	44	enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
45	45	are void.
46	46	SECTION 5. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 7, Chapter 3, Part 1, is amended by
47	47	adding the following as a new section:
48	48	A metropolitan government shall not maintain or authorize an office or
49	49	department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase
50	50	diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance,
51	51	regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or
52	52	department are void.
53	53	SECTION 6. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 7, Part 1, is amended by
54	54	adding the following as a new section:
55	55	A public institution of higher education in this state shall not maintain or authorize
56	56	an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort
57	57	to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities,
58	58	guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by
59	59	such office or department are void.
60	60	SECTION 7. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
