1313 AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4;
1414 Title 5; Title 6; Title 7; Title 8 and Title 49, Chapter
1515 7, relative to the "Dismantling DEI Departments

1818 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
1919 SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Dismantling DEI Departments
2020 Act."
2121 SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 1, Part 4, is amended by
2222 adding the following as a new section:
2323 A department, agency, or other unit of state government shall not maintain or
2424 authorize an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in
2525 an effort to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs,
2626 activities, guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other
2727 declarations by such office or department are void.
2828 SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 5, Chapter 1, Part 1, is amended by
2929 adding the following as a new section:
3030 A county government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department that
3131 promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity, equity,
3232 or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
3333 enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
3434 are void.
3535 SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 6, Chapter 54, Part 1, is amended by
3636 adding the following as a new section:

4141 A municipal government shall not maintain or authorize an office or department
4242 that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase diversity,
4343 equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance, regulations,
4444 enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or department
4545 are void.
4646 SECTION 5. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 7, Chapter 3, Part 1, is amended by
4747 adding the following as a new section:
4848 A metropolitan government shall not maintain or authorize an office or
4949 department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort to increase
5050 diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities, guidance,
5151 regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by such office or
5252 department are void.
5353 SECTION 6. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 7, Part 1, is amended by
5454 adding the following as a new section:
5555 A public institution of higher education in this state shall not maintain or authorize
5656 an office or department that promotes or requires discriminatory preferences in an effort
5757 to increase diversity, equity, or inclusion. All mandates, policies, programs, activities,
5858 guidance, regulations, enforcement actions, consent orders, or other declarations by
5959 such office or department are void.
6060 SECTION 7. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
