17 | 17 | WHEREAS, it is the goal of the General Assembly to assist our veterans in transitional | |
18 | 18 | efforts; we are proposing legislation that will give those veterans who are residents of this State | |
19 | 19 | the opportunity to receive business licenses for free; and | |
20 | 20 | WHEREAS, it is a fact that veterans receive various transferrable skills while in the | |
21 | 21 | military as well as other technical and academic certifications and accreditation, and it benefits | |
22 | 22 | the State and surrounding communities to support this legislation for economic and | |
23 | 23 | entrepreneurial development; now, therefore, | |
24 | 24 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE ST ATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 1. This act is known and may be cited as the "Ola Mae Ransom | |
26 | 26 | Reintegration Act." | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 67-4-723, is amended by adding the | |
28 | 28 | following as a new subsection: | |
29 | 29 | (f) Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b), a fee for a business license must not | |
30 | 30 | be charged to any veteran of the United States military, including the national guard and | |
31 | 31 | reserves. | |
32 | 32 | SECTION 3. This act takes effect July 1, 2025, the public welfare requiring it. |
