15 | 15 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE: | |
16 | 16 | SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 71-5-126, is amended by deleting the | |
17 | 17 | section and substituting: | |
18 | 18 | (a) The governor, acting through the commissioner of finance and | |
19 | 19 | administration, is directed to submit to the federal centers for medicare and medicaid | |
20 | 20 | services an application for a new waiver, no later than one hundred eighty (180) days | |
21 | 21 | after the effective date of this act, that provides medical assistance coverage for | |
22 | 22 | individuals whose gross annual income does not exceed one hundred thirty-eight | |
23 | 23 | percent (138%) of the federal poverty level. | |
24 | 24 | (b) A waiver requested pursuant to subsection (a), if approved by the federal | |
25 | 25 | government and the commissioner of finance and administration, takes effect | |
26 | 26 | immediately. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. |
