| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Israel has long been, and remains, America's most reliable partner in the |

| 15 | 15 | | Middle East, with both nations bound closely by historic and cultural ties as well as by mutual |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, the United States was the first country to recognize Israel as a state in |

| 18 | 18 | | 1948, and the first to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in 2017; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, the United States participates in a high number of exchanges with Israel, to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | include joint military exercises, military research, and weapons development, and through the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Joint Counterterrorism Group and a semiannual Strategic Dialogue, the United States and Israel |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | have enhanced their cooperation in fighting terrorism; and |

| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, at this time of continued uncertainty in the world, Tennessee again desires |

| 24 | 24 | | to reaffirm its friendship with the Nation of Israel by expressing its unequivocal support for the |

| 25 | 25 | | Nation of Israel; now, therefore, |

| 26 | 26 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH |

| 27 | 27 | | GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF |

| 28 | 28 | | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and commend the Nation of Israel |

| 29 | 29 | | and extend Tennessee's friendship and esteem as we remain steadfast in our support of the |
