A RESOLUTION to congratulate the University of Tennessee 
Volunteers baseball team, 2024 NCAA Men's 
College World Series champion. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should honor and 
commend those extraordinary athletic teams that, through their magnificent exploits, bring honor 
to the State of Tennessee and serve as exceptional ambassadors of this State; and 
 WHEREAS, the University of Tennessee (UT) Volunteers baseball team recently 
completed one of the greatest seasons in the history of the university's baseball program, as the 
team took home its first NCAA Men's College World Series championship in program history 
and finished the season with a 60-13 record; and 
 WHEREAS, the first No. 1 national seed to win the national title since 1999, the UT 
Volunteers defeated Texas A&M University 6-5 on Monday, June 25, 2024, to win the 2024 
NCAA Men's College World Series, a testament to the dedication, perseverance, and work ethic 
of the players, coaches, and staff of the UT Volunteers baseball program; and 
 WHEREAS, the 2024 UT Volunteers baseball team is the first sixty-win Southeastern 
Conference baseball team in history; and 
 WHEREAS, the UT Volunteers baseball team set a National Collegiate Athletics 
Association record with five players recording twenty or more homeruns during the 2024 
season; and 
 WHEREAS, each member of the UT Volunteers coaching staff deserves recognition, 
including Head Coach Tony Vitello, Associate Head Coach Josh Elander, Assistant Coach 
Frank Anderson, Assistant Coach Richard Jackson, Director of Player Development Luke 
Bonfield, and Student Assistant Coach Parker Serrano; and

 WHEREAS, the members of the UT Volunteers baseball team epitomize all that is good 
in today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in competition 
while exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and 
 WHEREAS, the outstanding 2024 team is composed of players Christian Moore, Ariel 
Antigua, Alex Perry, Cannon Peebles, Bradke Lohry, Nate Snead, Dylan Dreiling, Hunter 
Ensley, Cal Stark, Billy Amick, Ethan Payne, Reese Chapman, Charlie Taylor, JJ Garcia, Dalton 
Bargo, Robin Villeneuve, AJ Causey, Andrew Behnke, Colby Backus, Kavares Tears, Dean 
Curley, Blake Burke, Chris Stamos, Aaron Combs, Brady Robertson, Stone Lawless, Austin 
Hunley, Drew Beam, AJ Russell, Derek Schaefer, Kirby Connell, Blake Grimmer, Dylan Loy, 
Hunter High, Camden Bates, Luke Payne, Marcus Phillips, Brayden Sharp, and Zander 
Sechrist; and 
 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pride in honoring this 
extraordinary group of young men who have indelibly written their names for all time into the 
annals of the College World Series; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Head Coach Tony Vitello 
and the University of Tennessee Volunteers baseball team upon their 2024 NCAA Men's 
College World Series championship and extend to them our best wishes for every future 
success. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
