12	12	A RESOLUTION to recognize Victoria Eady Butler of Uncle
13	13	Nearest Premium Whiskey, the first Black
14	14	female master blender.

16	16	WHEREAS, the Volunteer State is proud to be the home of a number of historic,
17	17	pioneering women, including the inspirational Victoria Eady Butler of Uncle Nearest Premium
18	18	Whiskey, who is the first Black female master blender in the premium whiskey industry in the
19	19	nation; and
20	20	WHEREAS, an esteemed member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Victoria
21	21	Eady Butler will be the keynote speaker at the Founders Day Celebration of the Memphis
22	22	Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, on Saturday, February 1, 2025,
23	23	at Greater Imani Church The Cathedral of Faith in Memphis; and
24	24	WHEREAS, Victoria Eady Butler is the great-great-granddaughter of pioneering distiller
25	25	Nathan "Nearest" Green, whose legacy has been restored and reborn with the establishment of
26	26	Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey through the efforts of Ms. Butler and CEO and founder Fawn
27	27	Weaver; and
28	28	WHEREAS, prior to joining Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, Ms. Butler worked as an
29	29	analytical manager for the Regional Organized Crime Information Center in Nashville before
30	30	briefly retiring and immediately being invited to work at Uncle Nearest; and
31	31	WHEREAS, she started in an administrative role with the Nearest Green Foundation but
32	32	quickly transitioned to master blender after successfully curating a batch of whiskey for the
33	33	brand that became the distillery's first award-winning product; and

38	38	WHEREAS, in addition to her duties as master blender, she now oversees the Nearest
39	39	Green Foundation while continuing to grow her knowledge and experience in the premium
40	40	whiskey industry; and
41	41	WHEREAS, Victoria Eady Butler epitomizes the spirit and commitment that are
42	42	characteristic of a true Tennessean; and
43	43	WHEREAS, we find it appropriate to pause in our deliberations to acknowledge and
44	44	applaud Victoria Eady Butler on this special occasion; now, therefore,
45	45	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
46	46	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
47	47	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and recognize Victoria Eady Butler of
48	48	Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, the first Black female master blender in the premium whiskey
49	49	industry, as we extend to her our best wishes for much continued success in all her future
50	50	endeavors.
51	51	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
52	52	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
53	53	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
54	54	without House or Senate designation.
