A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Josseline Jeanneth 
Escalante Vega and the other victims of the 
Antioch High School shooting. 
 
 WHEREAS, on January 23, 2025, Josseline Jeanneth Escalante Vega lost her life to a 
senseless act of violence in a shooting at Antioch High School; and  
 WHEREAS, two of her classmates were also injured in the attack; and  
 WHEREAS, a native of Guatemala and a beloved daughter, sister, niece, and friend, 
Josseline Jeanneth Escalante Vega was a bright sixteen-year-old young woman who played 
soccer and dreamed of becoming a doctor; and  
 WHEREAS, although her life was all too brief, Josseline Escalante Vega lived her life 
with compassion, courage, and enthusiasm, and she will be forever missed by everyone who 
knew and loved her; and 
 WHEREAS, the greater Nashville community and the State of Tennessee mourn the 
heartbreaking loss of Ms. Escalante Vega's life and acknowledge the grief of all those impacted 
by the act of violence; now, therefore,  
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE , THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Josseline Jeanneth 
Escalante Vega, giving thanks for her bountiful life and the joy she brought to her family and 
classmates, and offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Escalante 
Vega. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we honor the two other students injured in the attack 
and extend to them our best wishes for successful recovery from their injuries.

 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we offer our thoughts and prayers to all members of 
the Antioch High School community affected by this tragic event. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
