<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 53 By Akbari SJR0053 002339 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize and honor Tay Keith. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly are proud to recognize those Tennesseans who have won acclaim for their talent and performances as professional musicians; and WHEREAS, one such talented musician is Tay Keith, a Grammy-nominated producer and songwriter who is renowned for his distinctive producer tags and production work on numerous chart-topping hits; and WHEREAS, born and raised in Memphis as Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, Tay Keith began his professional music career as a teenager, publishing his music to YouTube and other music applications and recreating popular music on his piano; and WHEREAS, he met Memphis rapper BlocBoy JB, and shortly thereafter, the two began making music, an endeavor that eventually led to BlocBoy JB's 2018 single, "Look Alive," which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100; and WHEREAS, a familiar name on some of this generation's biggest hip hop and pop hits, Tay Keith has worked alongside numerous industry leaders, including Drake, Lil Baby, Future, DJ Khaled, and, more recently, Megan Thee Stallion, among countless others; and WHEREAS, Tay Keith earned his bachelor's degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 2018, and mere weeks before his college graduation, he was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 61 st Annual Grammy Awards for his collaboration on Travis Scott's 2018 single "Sicko Mode," which peaked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100; and WHEREAS, Tay Keith epitomizes the spirit and commitment that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and - 2 - 002339 WHEREAS, this legendary musician and producer is truly worthy of our approbation, and it is highly appropriate that we recognize his talents accordingly; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor Tay Keith, for his extraordinary talent and musical contributions and wish him every continued success in his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
