<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 92 By Johnson SJR0092 001533 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of John Compton to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee. WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-201, provides for the governance of the University of Tennessee by the board of trustees; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that the governor shall appoint ten members to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed John Compton to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee for a term that expires June 30, 2030; and WHEREAS, a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mr. Compton is the former chief executive officer of PepsiCo Americas Foods; he also served as the chief executive officer of Pilot Flying J and has served as an advisor to Pilot Flying J, the Haslam family, and the Cleveland Browns; and WHEREAS, in 2013, he joined a New York private equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice as an operating advisor; and WHEREAS, Mr. Compton brings valuable experience and knowledge to the board of trustees; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that each member appointed by the governor to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the General Assembly; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF - 2 - 001533 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that this body does hereby confirm the appointment of John Compton to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee for a term that expires June 30, 2030.
