SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 115

A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of John McCarty to 
the fish and wildlife commission. 
 
 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201, provides for the creation of 
the fish and wildlife commission; and 
 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 70-1-201(a), further provides that the 
governor shall appoint nine (9) members to the commission; and 
 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed John McCarty to serve on the fish and 
wildlife commission as the representative for the 9
th
 district pursuant to Tennessee Code 
Annotated, Section 70-1-204; subject to confirmation, Mr. McCarty will serve a term that expires 
on February 28, 2031; and 
 WHEREAS, an Eagle Scout, John McCarty grew up hunting and fishing in Tennessee 
and Mississippi; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty managed several projects for the Tennessee Department of 
Transportation prior to starting his own company, McCarty Granberry Engineering in Collierville; 
and 
 WHEREAS, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Mississippi 
State University; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty enjoys introducing the younger generation to hunting and 
fishing, just as he relishes mentoring young engineers starting their careers; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. McCarty is an avid sportsman, hunter, and outdoorsman who is well 
informed on the subject of the conservation of game animals, birds, and fish in this state; and  
 WHEREAS, John McCarty's experience and dedication to wildlife and conservation 
issues will be a tremendous asset to the fish and wildlife commission; and

 WHEREAS, members appointed to the fish and wildlife commission by the governor are 
subject to confirmation by the committee of the house of representatives having jurisdiction over 
such matter and the energy, agriculture and natural resources committee of the senate and by 
joint resolution of the general assembly; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSE E, THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of John McCarty to a 
term on the fish and wildlife commission, such term to expire on February 28, 2031.
