21	21	WHEREAS, our nation was conceived by individuals who were willing to sacrifice their
22	22	personal safety and concerns to ensure our individual and collective freedom, and the Volunteer
23	23	State is especially proud to be the home of so many valiant men and women who have
24	24	performed above and beyond the call of duty; and
25	25	WHEREAS, one such group of individuals is Ashland City's Troop B, 1

27	27	Squadron, 278

30	30	Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), Tennessee Army National Guard (Bonsai), whose soldiers
31	31	recently claimed first place during the U.S. Army's 2024 Sullivan Cup Competition at Fort
32	32	Moore, Georgia; and
33	33	WHEREAS, held every two years and hosted by the U.S. Army Maneuver Center, the
34	34	Sullivan Cup pits the best M1 Abrams tank and Bradley crews from the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine
35	35	Corps, and foreign allies in a head-to-head competition to test a crew's maneuver, sustainment,
36	36	and gunnery skills; and
37	37	WHEREAS, by the end of the multi-day competition, the 278

39	39	crew from Ashland City
40	40	had defeated ten other teams, six from active-duty Army units and four from allied nations; and

45	45	ACR tank crew who claimed the
46	46	Sullivan Cup are Staff Sergeant David Riddick, Sergeant Joshua Owen, Specialist Noah
47	47	Eddings, and Specialist Seth Carter; and
48	48	WHEREAS, the soldiers of the 1

50	50	Squadron, 278

52	52	ACR were the only National
53	53	Guard/non-active duty unit in the competition; these soldiers represented the Tennessee Army

58	58	National Guard and the Volunteer State well and for the next two years will be recognized
59	59	nationally and internationally as the best M1 Abrams tank crew in the world; and
60	60	WHEREAS, from Andrew Jackson, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, Alvin York, Mitchell
61	61	Stout, Larry Taylor, and James Gardener to George S. Gillespie, Jr., George Jordan, and
62	62	Harrison Collins, the first Tennessean to be awarded the Medal of Honor, the warrior ethos and
63	63	tenacity of the Volunteer is remembered; this M1 Abrams crew has demonstrated that the long-
64	64	time warrior ethos of the Tennessee Volunteer remains alive and well in Tennessee today; and
65	65	WHEREAS, this recent victory reflects not only the dedication, tenacity, and teamwork of
66	66	Staff Sergeant Riddick, Sergeant Owen, Specialist Eddings, and Specialist Carter but also the
67	67	excellence of the officer and non-commissioned officer leadership of the 278

69	69	ACR and the
70	70	Tennessee Army National Guard, as well as those who provide administrative, maintenance,
71	71	and supply support; and
72	72	WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we recognize the brave and noble members of the

75	75	Armored Cavalry Regiment, as they have made untold and innumerable personal
76	76	sacrifices to be living examples of the Regiment's motto, "I Volunteer, Sir," to preserve the
77	77	liberties we enjoy today, and to bring great pride to the State of Tennessee through their recent
78	78	victory; now, therefore,
79	79	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED F OURTEENTH
80	80	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
81	81	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and commend Staff Sergeant David
82	82	Riddick, Sergeant Joshua Owen, Specialist Noah Eddings, and Specialist Seth Carter of
