<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 210 By Johnson SJR0210 004545 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize Peter Singletary on becoming an Eagle Scout. WHEREAS, at a time when this nation's youth face difficult challenges, the Boy Scouts of America is one of our finest assets, providing young people with an educational program that contributes significantly to their character development, citizenship training, and improved mental and physical fitness; and WHEREAS, the highest rank a Scout can attain in the Boy Scouts of America Scouts BSA program is that of Eagle Scout, and Peter Singletary, after considerable effort and diligent preparation, has joined the prestigious Eagle Court of Honor; and WHEREAS, his notable record of achievement as a Scout began in the Cub Scouts, where he earned the Arrow of Light before transitioning to Troop 16; over the course of four summer camps, he learned how to shoot a rifle and bow, pilot a canoe, swim, fish, and dismantle a car; and WHEREAS, for his Eagle project, Peter constructed a covered park bench in the new Peacock Nature Park in College Grove, an endeavor that required an estimated seventy-seven hours of volunteer service; his leadership, planning, and management of the significant building project greatly contributed to the betterment of his community and reflected the true spirit of volunteerism; and WHEREAS, Mr. Singletary's service to his community also includes sorting food at Graceworks, operating cameras at his church, selling tickets at the County Fair, and entertaining children with his drama club performances; and WHEREAS, Peter also participated in leadership training through his troop, and he served as a Drama Club officer at Page High School; he contributed to his school's band for - 2 - 004545 seven years, sang in the choir for four years, and performed theatrical productions every semester since the seventh grade; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate that we should pause to recognize Peter Singletary as one of the most outstanding young people in our State; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Peter Singletary on becoming an Eagle Scout and extend to him our best wishes for every future success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
