| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, we take great pleasure in paying tribute to those outstanding Tennesseans |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | who have distinguished themselves as invaluable professionals and community leaders; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dave Staley's exemplary tenure as a broadcaster spans more than four |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | decades and includes coverage of numerous major sporting events, including Super Bowls and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | World Series; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, after entering the broadcasting field in 1981 in Wyoming, Mr. Staley |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | eventually relocated to Chattanooga, where he spent thirty-seven years at NewsChannel 9; he |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | concluded his career at WDEF, where he still occasionally fills in today; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, although his accomplishments are many, Dave Staley is perhaps best |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | known for his creation of Dave's Diamond Darlings, a local television favorite that humorously |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | captured the antics of Little League baseball; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, he was the sole creator of the popular show, which aired for twenty-five |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | years and earned him multiple awards, including three MidSouth Emmys and three Edward R. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Murrow National Awards; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Dave Staley provided entertainment, information, and analysis to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Chattanooga community for many years, and he was deservedly inducted into the Greater |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame in 2013; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, in retirement, Mr. Staley has remained active in the community while |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | enjoying the fruits of his labor with his wife, Ginnia; and |
