12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor and commend the Loretto High School
13	13	boys' basketball team upon winning the 2025
14	14	TSSAA Division I, Class AA state championship.

16	16	WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should salute those student athletes
17	17	who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true champions of
18	18	whom we can all be proud; and
19	19	WHEREAS, one such exemplary group of lads is the Mustangs boys' basketball team of
20	20	Loretto High School, whose members have proven themselves to be the fiercest of competitors
21	21	and truly worthy of admiration by winning the 2025 TSSAA Division I, Class AA state
22	22	championship; and
23	23	WHEREAS, entering regional competition as District 10 champions, Loretto quickly
24	24	cleared the decks by crushing Community 65-32 in the quarterfinals, beating Grundy County 77-
25	25	70 in their semifinal match-up, and defeating Cannon County 59-54 in the final to win the
26	26	Region 5 championship; and
27	27	WHEREAS, the Mustangs then crushed Harpeth 71-44 in the sectional round to punch
28	28	their ticket for the Big Dance; and
29	29	WHEREAS, poised for ultimate victory in the Class AA state tournament at MTSU's
30	30	Murphy Center, Loretto bested Liberty Creek 49-34 in the quarterfinals and defeated
31	31	Chattanooga Tyner Academy 59-47 in the semifinal round to advance to the final; and
32	32	WHEREAS, in the final game, the Mustangs prevailed over Alcoa in an overtime thriller
33	33	by a score of 68-66 to claim the Gold Ball trophy that signifies a state champion and finish the
34	34	2024-2025 campaign with an outstanding 35-0 record; and

39	39	WHEREAS, with the victory, the Loretto Mustangs became the first state champion in
40	40	Lawrence County history in any sport to go undefeated; they are also the second boys'
41	41	basketball team in the county to win a state championship, following in the footsteps of the
42	42	Loretto Mustangs team in 2018; and
43	43	` WHEREAS, the members of this championship team include seniors Kasen Buie, Jaxon
44	44	Roberson, and Grayson Burleson; juniors Mason Tidwell, Corben Reynolds, Jayden Aaron,
45	45	Kylon Wilkerson, Casen Springer, and Dillon Thompson; sophomores Henry Serrett and
46	46	Hawkins Brown; and freshmen Elijah Chapman, Paul Heineman, Landon Gable, Sam Brown,
47	47	Ben Lyles, Braxton Stephenson, and Asher Sharpe; and
48	48	WHEREAS, Loretto's superb performance would not have been possible without the
49	49	expert guidance of Head Coach Greg Tipps and his assistant coaches, Bryce Glass, Colin
50	50	Stout, and Brendon Tipps, the commitment of managers Cooper Bromley and Drako Price, and
51	51	the unfailing support of the players' families, their fans, and their community; and
52	52	WHEREAS, the members of the Loretto boys' basketball team epitomize all that is good
53	53	in today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in competition
54	54	while exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and
55	55	WHEREAS, the perseverance, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of
56	56	young men not only made possible a championship but also surely bode well for their future
57	57	success; and
58	58	WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly find it appropriate to acknowledge
59	59	and applaud the Loretto Mustangs for their undefeated season on the hardwood; now,
60	60	therefore,
61	61	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
62	62	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENN ESSEE, THE HOUSE OF

69	69	and extend to them our best wishes for every continued success in all their future endeavors.
70	70	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
71	71	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
72	72	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
73	73	without House or Senate designation.
