1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and commend the Loretto High School
1313 boys' basketball team upon winning the 2025
1414 TSSAA Division I, Class AA state championship.

1616 WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should salute those student athletes
1717 who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true champions of
1818 whom we can all be proud; and
1919 WHEREAS, one such exemplary group of lads is the Mustangs boys' basketball team of
2020 Loretto High School, whose members have proven themselves to be the fiercest of competitors
2121 and truly worthy of admiration by winning the 2025 TSSAA Division I, Class AA state
2222 championship; and
2323 WHEREAS, entering regional competition as District 10 champions, Loretto quickly
2424 cleared the decks by crushing Community 65-32 in the quarterfinals, beating Grundy County 77-
2525 70 in their semifinal match-up, and defeating Cannon County 59-54 in the final to win the
2626 Region 5 championship; and
2727 WHEREAS, the Mustangs then crushed Harpeth 71-44 in the sectional round to punch
2828 their ticket for the Big Dance; and
2929 WHEREAS, poised for ultimate victory in the Class AA state tournament at MTSU's
3030 Murphy Center, Loretto bested Liberty Creek 49-34 in the quarterfinals and defeated
3131 Chattanooga Tyner Academy 59-47 in the semifinal round to advance to the final; and
3232 WHEREAS, in the final game, the Mustangs prevailed over Alcoa in an overtime thriller
3333 by a score of 68-66 to claim the Gold Ball trophy that signifies a state champion and finish the
3434 2024-2025 campaign with an outstanding 35-0 record; and

3939 WHEREAS, with the victory, the Loretto Mustangs became the first state champion in
4040 Lawrence County history in any sport to go undefeated; they are also the second boys'
4141 basketball team in the county to win a state championship, following in the footsteps of the
4242 Loretto Mustangs team in 2018; and
4343 ` WHEREAS, the members of this championship team include seniors Kasen Buie, Jaxon
4444 Roberson, and Grayson Burleson; juniors Mason Tidwell, Corben Reynolds, Jayden Aaron,
4545 Kylon Wilkerson, Casen Springer, and Dillon Thompson; sophomores Henry Serrett and
4646 Hawkins Brown; and freshmen Elijah Chapman, Paul Heineman, Landon Gable, Sam Brown,
4747 Ben Lyles, Braxton Stephenson, and Asher Sharpe; and
4848 WHEREAS, Loretto's superb performance would not have been possible without the
4949 expert guidance of Head Coach Greg Tipps and his assistant coaches, Bryce Glass, Colin
5050 Stout, and Brendon Tipps, the commitment of managers Cooper Bromley and Drako Price, and
5151 the unfailing support of the players' families, their fans, and their community; and
5252 WHEREAS, the members of the Loretto boys' basketball team epitomize all that is good
5353 in today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in competition
5454 while exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and
5555 WHEREAS, the perseverance, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of
5656 young men not only made possible a championship but also surely bode well for their future
5757 success; and
5858 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly find it appropriate to acknowledge
5959 and applaud the Loretto Mustangs for their undefeated season on the hardwood; now,
