1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory Ava May Christopher.

1414 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor the lives of those citizens who, although
1515 their time on earth may have been brief, made a profound impact on those who were fortunate
1616 to know them; and
1717 WHEREAS, one such noteworthy individual was Ava May Christopher of Memphis, who
1818 was born on May 8, 2003, to Chris and Angela Christopher; and
1919 WHEREAS, as a child, she was an epic dichotomy of shyness and a girl who knew what
2020 she wanted; she was emotionally attuned and empathetic, and she deeply loved her friends,
2121 family, horse Ozzi, calico Jazzy, and other family pets; and
2222 WHEREAS, Ava was clever and fun, and it was always her goal to make others laugh
2323 and smile; she loved music and theater and excelled at performance, always working diligently
2424 to improve her vocal and acting skills; and
2525 WHEREAS, she performed in a number of local shows at the Historic Ruffin, New Day
2626 Children's Theatre, The University of Memphis, and Theatre Memphis, preparing for hours and
2727 days for each and every audition; and
2828 WHEREAS, Ava Christopher also enjoyed working behind the scenes as an assistant
2929 director, stage manager, dresser—anything to be involved in a show; her dedication was no
3030 different as a barrel racer and a member of the drill team. She knew what she wanted and
3131 would work tirelessly to achieve it, while at the same time happily cheering on her friends and
3232 their horses; and

3737 WHEREAS, at the time of her passing, she was preparing to enter her junior year at the
3838 University of Memphis, where she was a biology major with minors in vocal music and theater;
3939 she had hoped to go to veterinary school after graduation; and
4040 WHEREAS, Ava loved everyone from all walks of life and believed in acceptance,
4141 tolerance, and love; she packed more love, humor, knowledge, moxie, and experiences into her
4242 short twenty years than many do in much longer lifetimes; and
4343 WHEREAS, she was also deeply devoted to her family, and she always endeavored to
4444 remain true to family values of the highest order; and
4545 WHEREAS, in addition to her beloved parents, Ava Christopher left to cherish her
4646 memory her sister, Kat; grandparents, Jim and Barbara Christopher, and Debbie and Bob
4747 Mosely; great-grandmother, Dorthy Sturm; and a host of extended family and friends; and
4848 WHEREAS, Ava leaves behind an indelible legacy of joy, determination, and kindness
4949 that will continue to resonate through those she loved; and
5050 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should remember the bountiful life of this exceptional
5151 young lady; now, therefore,
5252 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
5353 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
5454 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURR ING, that we honor the memory of Ava May Christopher,
5555 reflecting fondly upon her brief life well lived, extending our condolences to her many loved
5656 ones.
5757 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5858 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5959 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
6060 without House or Senate designation.
