12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor the memory Ava May Christopher.

14	14	WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor the lives of those citizens who, although
15	15	their time on earth may have been brief, made a profound impact on those who were fortunate
16	16	to know them; and
17	17	WHEREAS, one such noteworthy individual was Ava May Christopher of Memphis, who
18	18	was born on May 8, 2003, to Chris and Angela Christopher; and
19	19	WHEREAS, as a child, she was an epic dichotomy of shyness and a girl who knew what
20	20	she wanted; she was emotionally attuned and empathetic, and she deeply loved her friends,
21	21	family, horse Ozzi, calico Jazzy, and other family pets; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Ava was clever and fun, and it was always her goal to make others laugh
23	23	and smile; she loved music and theater and excelled at performance, always working diligently
24	24	to improve her vocal and acting skills; and
25	25	WHEREAS, she performed in a number of local shows at the Historic Ruffin, New Day
26	26	Children's Theatre, The University of Memphis, and Theatre Memphis, preparing for hours and
27	27	days for each and every audition; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Ava Christopher also enjoyed working behind the scenes as an assistant
29	29	director, stage manager, dresser—anything to be involved in a show; her dedication was no
30	30	different as a barrel racer and a member of the drill team. She knew what she wanted and
31	31	would work tirelessly to achieve it, while at the same time happily cheering on her friends and
32	32	their horses; and

37	37	WHEREAS, at the time of her passing, she was preparing to enter her junior year at the
38	38	University of Memphis, where she was a biology major with minors in vocal music and theater;
39	39	she had hoped to go to veterinary school after graduation; and
40	40	WHEREAS, Ava loved everyone from all walks of life and believed in acceptance,
41	41	tolerance, and love; she packed more love, humor, knowledge, moxie, and experiences into her
42	42	short twenty years than many do in much longer lifetimes; and
43	43	WHEREAS, she was also deeply devoted to her family, and she always endeavored to
44	44	remain true to family values of the highest order; and
45	45	WHEREAS, in addition to her beloved parents, Ava Christopher left to cherish her
46	46	memory her sister, Kat; grandparents, Jim and Barbara Christopher, and Debbie and Bob
47	47	Mosely; great-grandmother, Dorthy Sturm; and a host of extended family and friends; and
48	48	WHEREAS, Ava leaves behind an indelible legacy of joy, determination, and kindness
49	49	that will continue to resonate through those she loved; and
50	50	WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should remember the bountiful life of this exceptional
51	51	young lady; now, therefore,
52	52	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
53	53	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
54	54	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURR ING, that we honor the memory of Ava May Christopher,
55	55	reflecting fondly upon her brief life well lived, extending our condolences to her many loved
56	56	ones.
57	57	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
58	58	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
59	59	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
60	60	without House or Senate designation.
