15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of |
---|
16 | 16 | | the passing of Beverly Anne Hackett Farrell; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Beverly Farrell was an exemplary individual and consummate professional |
---|
18 | 18 | | who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in numerous |
---|
19 | 19 | | capacities; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, a native of Moberly, Missouri, Beverly Anne Farrell relocated to Kingston, |
---|
21 | 21 | | where she was a faithful member of Morrison Hill Christian Church; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Beverly Farrell served with acumen and alacrity as a systems engineer for |
---|
23 | 23 | | IBM for ten years and continued as a network systems manager, with state and government |
---|
24 | 24 | | accounts, during her twenty-eight-year career with IBM; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, after leaving IBM, she joined her husband, Rusty Farrell, as a licensed |
---|
26 | 26 | | insurance agent and an investment advisor until suffering a stroke in 2024; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, a gracious woman who enjoyed a variety of hobbies, she was a talented |
---|
28 | 28 | | seamstress and did cross stitching and embroidery; she and her husband were both avid UT |
---|
29 | 29 | | Lady Vol volleyball supporters and created a player scholarship; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, her father, John Hackett, was a long-time trustee of Johnson University, |
---|
31 | 31 | | formerly Johnson Bible College, and in honor of her parents, she supported a room and board |
---|
32 | 32 | | scholarship for the institution; she was also an avid supporter of St. Jude Hospital and the |
---|
33 | 33 | | University of Tennessee Speech and Audiology Department; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Farrell was also deeply devoted to her family, and she always |
---|
35 | 35 | | endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and |

43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, she will be sadly mourned but fondly remembered by her sisters, Benita |

44 | 44 | | (Mark) Albert and Bonnie (Larry) Fagan; brother, William (Sandy) Hackett; sister-in-law, Laurie |

45 | 45 | | (Dave) Petty; seven nieces and one nephew; and special friends, Diana Hodges, Sarah Makin, |

46 | 46 | | Pat Adams, Senator Becky Massey, and Cathy Turner; and |

47 | 47 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Farrell was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah Louise McCorkle |

49 | 49 | | WHEREAS, Beverly Farrell leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in |

50 | 50 | | public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all her chosen |

52 | 52 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to |

53 | 53 | | remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, |

54 | 54 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH |

55 | 55 | | GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF |

56 | 56 | | REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Beverly Anne Hackett |

57 | 57 | | Farrell, reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living |
