1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Barbara Sue Parks of
1313 Somerville.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the passing of Barbara Sue Parks; and
1717 WHEREAS, Barbara Parks was an exemplary public servant and consummate
1818 professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in
1919 numerous capacities; and
2020 WHEREAS, Mrs. Parks was an active and devout member of Somerville Church of
2121 Christ, which she served faithfully for many years, using her craft and sewing talents as her
2222 ministry for the Lord; and
2323 WHEREAS, deeply devoted to her family, Barbara Parks always endeavored to remain
2424 true to family values of the highest order; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mrs. Parks was the proud mother of Sue Freels, Debbie (Paul) Jameson-
2626 Lee, and Dixie (Jerry) Malcolm; grandmother of three; great-grandmother of seven; and great-
2727 great-grandmother of one; and
2828 WHEREAS, Barbara Park is further survived by her sister, Sissy Balentine, two
2929 nephews, one niece, two great-nephews, one great-niece, two great-great nephews, and six
3030 great-great nieces; and
3131 WHEREAS, in addition to her parents, Ervin and Hattie Nesbitt, Barbara Parks was
3232 preceded in death by her son, Dale Williams; her first husband, Pete Williams; and her second
3333 husband, Alfred Parks; and
3434 WHEREAS, Barbara Parks leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
3535 public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all her chosen
3636 endeavors; and

4141 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
4242 remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
4343 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
4444 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
4545 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Barbara Sue Parks,
4646 reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living the
4747 examined life with courage and conviction.
4848 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
4949 to the family of Mrs. Parks.
5050 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5151 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5252 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
