12	12	A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Barbara Sue Parks of
13	13	Somerville.

15	15	WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
16	16	the passing of Barbara Sue Parks; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Barbara Parks was an exemplary public servant and consummate
18	18	professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens in
19	19	numerous capacities; and
20	20	WHEREAS, Mrs. Parks was an active and devout member of Somerville Church of
21	21	Christ, which she served faithfully for many years, using her craft and sewing talents as her
22	22	ministry for the Lord; and
23	23	WHEREAS, deeply devoted to her family, Barbara Parks always endeavored to remain
24	24	true to family values of the highest order; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Mrs. Parks was the proud mother of Sue Freels, Debbie (Paul) Jameson-
26	26	Lee, and Dixie (Jerry) Malcolm; grandmother of three; great-grandmother of seven; and great-
27	27	great-grandmother of one; and
28	28	WHEREAS, Barbara Park is further survived by her sister, Sissy Balentine, two
29	29	nephews, one niece, two great-nephews, one great-niece, two great-great nephews, and six
30	30	great-great nieces; and
31	31	WHEREAS, in addition to her parents, Ervin and Hattie Nesbitt, Barbara Parks was
32	32	preceded in death by her son, Dale Williams; her first husband, Pete Williams; and her second
33	33	husband, Alfred Parks; and
34	34	WHEREAS, Barbara Parks leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in
35	35	public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all her chosen
36	36	endeavors; and

41	41	WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
42	42	remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
43	43	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
44	44	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
45	45	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Barbara Sue Parks,
46	46	reflecting fondly upon her impeccable character and her stalwart commitment to living the
47	47	examined life with courage and conviction.
48	48	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
49	49	to the family of Mrs. Parks.
50	50	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
51	51	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
52	52	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
53	53	without House or Senate designation.
